What software do I use to get rid of the guitar track in a song, and keep the background instrumentals?

I want to get rid of the lead guitar and just listen to the background instrumentals. What software can I use for this? What software do I use to get rid of the guitar track in a song, and keep the background instrumentals? It can't be done, even with professional, high tech and extremely expensive equipment... As soon as a multi track recording is mixed down to stereo file, almost all information is spread across the audio spectrum as well as stereo field.

Trying to achieve what you're asking here is like attempting to get a cake which has been baked back to its original ingredients of flour and sugar etc.

It is some times possible to sum out information which has been mixed dead center, like dry lead vocals and bass. However, any stereo effects used will still remain and be heard like a ghost like sound in the background.

Guitar is almost exclusively mixed left and right in the stereo field and tend to have stereo effects (reverb, delay and more) added. This makes it impossible to remove without cutting out huge parts of other things also.

The only way to achieve this is either to have access to the original master recording (multi tracks) or re-record the song from scratch. The latter is what is usually done with karaoke recordings. What software do I use to get rid of the guitar track in a song, and keep the background instrumentals? You'll need to get rid of most of the treble. Open Windows Media Player 11 and open the mixer.

Drag the upper end ones around until you can't hear the lead guitar.
