Beyond Adobe.....
You can also try the free Windows Movie Maker (or whatever it's called in whatever version of Windows you have). On a Mac, there's iMovie.
There are also programs that are free or open-source, but are still in development and might not work very well - VideoLAN Movie Creator (VLMC) and Lightworks.
Beyond that, you can look at lower-end programs like Corel/Ulead VideoStudio, Pinnacle Studio, and some entry-level versions of Sony Vegas.
Avid Studio is coming out as an available download on March 8th. Avid makes arguably the best editing platform in the business (Media Composer), and Studio will be a new thing for them in the lower, entry-level end. They'll definitely be worth a look.
Many companies also offer academic discounts! Here in the US, you have sites like specialtyvideosupply.com and journeyed.com - I don't know what similar sites you have in the Philippines, but look for them! Student discounts are often really great deals if you're a student or educator. What adobe software can edit videos or movie clips from a camera?Premiere or After effects
