What program/software do you use to separate the vocals and the instruments?

I mean, the software people use to make instrumental versions of songs. I am going to use both parts, so a program that can still save both tracks from separating them from 1 song. That would be most helpful.

Thanks! What program/software do you use to separate the vocals and the instruments? There are no programs at this time that do a truly great job of it. most of the software that "removes vocals" simply compares the left and right channels out of phase with each other, to eliminate the vocals. This changes the re sound of the rest of the instruments, and only removes the vocals if they are perfectly centered. It can knock their volume down quite a bit, but at the price of sound quality of the rest of the music.

The way karaoke recordings are made is by using the original studio master of the song, then muting the lead vocal(s). This way, the vocals are gone with no effect at all on the rest of the channels, or sound quality. No software at present can accomplish this.

The "sound separators" shown in music and TV programs are fictional. They do NOT really exist. Nor have they ever. I have seen these fictional "separators" in TV shows since the early 70's, but as of today, they are still only fiction.

I believe that we will see the day that they will exist, and work, but that day is not here yet...
