How do I stop my dog humping my cat?

One of my 2 dogs (female 13) keeps humping my old cat Belle (also female 13).



Problem is I can't punish it in the act without seeming to be yelling/hitting/squirting water the cat.



Belle is just a big, old, soft floppy thing and lazes about drooling %26amp; purring as if nothing's going on- sometimes it will show its' belly- but still keeps purring and drooling.

It only gets annoyed if Nicky (dog) tries to hump kitties' head-end.

It is simply your dog saying to your cat " you are my *****, I am dominate over you" Just tell the dog no every time she does it. like any behaviour that you need to change you need to be consistent and nip it in the bud preferably by catching it in the act.

have you tried removing the dog physically every time she does this?

The dog is fairly old and you dont say if she has always done this (in which case it may take some time to re-train her) or if this is a new behaviour.



either way there are lots of methods you can try without upsetting the cat seek professional training advice and ask the vet if you cannot find any help from the site I recommended

introduce it 2 a dog, sounds like it has been on its own 2 long
Pull the dog off the cat and tell her No.
They are in a fight over who is the Alpha... the humping has nothing to do with sex... teehee



You could become the Alpha so that when you tell them something - don't yell - but do use a stern voice as you would in scoulding a child.
